miniJOULE Island - mobile solar power - off-grid solar energy system, with which you no longer feed your solar power into the grid but rather store it in a battery. Now you can determine when you want to use your electricity and have a power supply everywhere - at the beach, on the highest mountaintop or simply in your garden shed.
The principle is different with off-grid solar systems (so-called island systems): a solar charge controller stores the solar energy in a suitable battery or it flows directly to the consumer. Ideally, your battery will be fully charged by evening so that the energy will be available to you in the dark. Conventional "plug-based" consumers, like TVs, fridges and computers, can be operated with ease using an inverter, which converts the stored direct current from the battery into alternating current. All the components of an "island" system are assembled ready-for-connection with the miniJOULE Island.
  • How long does the battery last?
    This depends on the consumer: the integral 100 Ah battery has enough energy for TV, lighting or a small fridge. It has a usable energy volume of 840 watt hours.
    For instance, a laptop with 25 watts can be operated for 33 hours (840 Wh/25 W) and a 32-inch LCD TV with 90 W for nine hours (840 Wh/90 W). A 1500 W microwave oven can be operated for around 20-30 minutes, as its consumption is relatively high.
  • How long does it take to charge the battery?
    You can either charge the miniJOULE Island using the solar module or the internal charger. Once the battery has been fully discharged, the 60 W-module included needs 2-3 days to recharge in the summer months; it can take up to a week or longer during the winter months with low sunlight and short days. If you have the option of charging it with mains power, the charger needs around 20 hours for a full charge.
    The miniJOULE Island is an off-grid system that feeds the power you have generated into a battery. Now you can be even more independent and use your solar power - wherever and whenever you want! The miniJOULE Island consists of a battery, solar charge controller, inverter, mains power charger and solar module. All the components are handily integrated in a trolley and can therefore be used on the go. Only the 60 W-module supplied needs to be connected to the Island.
